How your adoption works
From finished floor to a story you can follow

We transform your floor
Diamond-ground prep, a moisture test, and a coating system built for the coast. The adoption starts once your job is fully completed and paid in full.

We set up your adoption
Once your job is complete, we ask what name should go on the certificate and whether we may share your contact details with the conservation group. There's nothing to do at the estimate.

Your certificate and its journey
You receive a personalized adoption certificate and, while its transmitter is working, a link to follow your turtle's movements.

Wilmington Floor Coatings sponsors a gift adoption in your name. You receive the official personalized certificate from the conservation group, exactly as they issue it.

We ask before sharing your name, email, or address with the conservation group. If you'd rather not, we place the adoption under our name and forward everything to you.
The conservation impact
What a symbolic adoption does
Symbolic adoptions are one of the ways conservation groups raise support for sea turtle research, habitat protection, and education. Your adoption supports that work in general.
Wilmington Floor Coatings pays for the adoption. It's included with your floor and doesn't change your price.
The adoption is symbolic. It supports sea turtle research and conservation in general; it doesn't mean you own the turtle, that your adoption rescued it, or that the money goes only to that turtle. Satellite transmitters stop sending at unpredictable times, so tracking is available only while the transmitter is working.
We buy each adoption ourselves through a nonprofit conservation group's public adoption program. We are not a partner of that group, and it does not endorse Wilmington Floor Coatings. Your certificate comes from the group exactly as issued. The adoption is a gift from Wilmington Floor Coatings, so it isn't a donation you make and isn't tax-deductible for you.
Why Shelby?
Shelby’s story
Shelby is the sea turtle on our logo. We picked a sea turtle because they belong to the Carolina coast we live and work on — sea turtles nest on North Carolina's ocean beaches, including the shoreline around Wilmington.
A sea turtle is built for salt, sun, and the long haul. That's the standard we hold our floors to. Shelby is a mascot, not a specific animal, and we don't invent a backstory for the character.

What is Shelby's Mission?+
